Recently I had the privilege of being flown half way across the world to photograph Emily and Brandon’s elopement in one of the most romantic locations in the world – Lake Como, Italy. I had always longed to shoot in this breathtaking country, it was a dream come true! I met Emily and Brandon for the first time the day before their wedding (they also flew in from their hometown of Portland, Oregon) and it truly felt like I was catching up with old friends.
The next day on 17/7/17, they spent the morning relaxing and getting ready, making sure not to see each other before their ‘first look’. Emily and Brandon were married in the gardens of Villa Monti with the breathtaking view of Lake Como as the backdrop. It was an incredibly personal and touching ceremony, with just myself and my husband as witnesses, which was an honour in itself. Afterwards, Emily and Brandon read letters of love and congratulations from their family. Emily also had the lace of her mothers wedding gown sewn into her dress. We spent the next few hours wandering the cobblestone alleyways of Lake Como, eating gelato, riding the ferry and exploring Bellagio (an equally stunning town across the lake!)
I don’t think words could ever do this wedding, this experience, or this beautiful couple justice. I guess that’s why I fell in love with photography in the first place. I’m able to tell a story through images and capture emotions that words simply cannot describe. So on that note, I am very excited to share Emily and Brandon’s elopement with you below!
